Ed Sol Crafts - Capable Knives for Any Task (Copy)

Ed Sol Crafts, of Whiteland, IN, is a bladesmith and blacksmith best known for his chef and EDC (every day carry) knives. Ed began in bladesmithing around ten years ago but has really seen his hobby take off in the past seven years.

Ed’s passion for working metal began as a way to spend less money on woodworking tools. Through the process of learning how to forge steel, an appreciation for the art was quickly formed and now Ed finds himself longing for the days of hammering red hot steel and sharing his passion with others. In addition to his start in woodworking, Ed also worked in the culinary world for a while, leading to a lot of knowledge of knives, the steels they’re made out of, and their capabilities; knowledge he puts to good use now.

Each knife on the website contains information on the blade steel that was used, the handle material, and most include a sheath with the purchase price. They are all handmade with a focus on quality and usability, regardless of the end purpose. Therefore, each knife is truly individual and will have slight variations from one to the next. Most Ed Sol knives cost between $200 and $250, although prices can climb for custom projects, folding knives, and damascus blades. In addition to the knives the Ed sells, you can also take a class and see what truly goes into the process of taking a piece of steel and forming it into a knife or creating a piece of damascus steel.
